Purchasing Talents

Talent trees have 4 columns and 3 rows. The cost of each talent depends on the row it occupies. The topmost rows are cheapest, costing 5 points each. The next row costs 10, and the last costs 15.

Note that the choices on the tree are connected by lines that link some choices with others. When purchasing talents, you may only purchase those which you are eligible for. You are eligible for any of the talents in the topmost row, plus any which are connected to a talent which you have already purchased. Each entry may only be purchased once. Some talents are mentioned more than once on the tree; when you purchase that talent for a second time, you gain an additional rank in it.

Training Skills

The cost for training skills falls into two categories: career skills and non career skills. Each skill has 5 ranks of training available.

Training a career skill costs 5 times the value of the next highest rank. For example, training a career skill from untrained to 1 rank takes 5 xp; taking the same skill from rank 1 to rank 2 costs 10 xp. Each rank is purchased separately (so taking a skill from untrained to 2 ranks costs 15 xp total).

You can also purchase ranks in non career skills. Each rank of a non career skill costs 5 xp extra (so training a non career skill from untrained to 1 takes 10 xp, taking it from 1 to 2 takes another 15, etc).

Career skills are noted on the character sheet in bold.

Astrogation, Charm, Coordination, Deceit, Knowledge, Perception, Pilot, Skulduggery, Streetwise, Vigilance, Gunnery.
